Lunar Yetis Catching Frisky Facefluffs

Working on covers for Penguin US and Andersen Press at the moment, which is all very secret - so to keep this here blog rolling here's a sample page from a picture book idea my girlfriend and I are quietly knocking together. I roughed out a tentative first draft of the whole thing in pencil recently, and figured one or two pages worked well enough to make for decent portfolio pieces. Draft no 2 will be underway before too long, hopefully...

Cheers Mr Roper! Good fun isn't it, this picture book lark?

That raised a big smile, I can tell you. I'm a sucker for anything with beards doing silly things, and once you add tecnicolor yetis - and on the moon. Total genius!

Thanks Dave, it's great to hear this is making smiles happen. You really can't go wrong with dancing beards, can you? PS I've been checking Amazon lots of late for those forthcoming Mirabilis hardbacks - very eager indeed to get my pinkies on those tomes :)

Not long now, Neil. Apparently the first print run is being bound this week! Of course, they still have to actually ship those copies to the UK, but at least it's not a slow boat from China. In fact it's a train from Eastern Europe - how appropriate is that?

Dave sent me this and it raised a big smile here too. There is something so perfectly silly about beards and this is very sweet.

dont like beards in general but liked the thought of them being chased like butterflies - enjoyed it

Thanks Roz, thanks Alberta. The beard is certainly ripe with strange comedy value... some of the outlandish creations you see at international facial hair conventions are inhabiting truly mythic realms of heroic silliness.
